Be Still

My first thought of writing about my faith on this site was to possibly subdue it.  But my faith and my faith community are a big part of my wellness journey. Why would I deny it or them? I believe everyone has the right to choose how they are guided in their relationships with themselves, others and yes even the spirit. What ever you put your faith in, I hope it upholds, guides you, and nourishes you.

One Sunday morning:

As I sat in church on Sunday June 24th and the Gospel of Mark was being read: Mark 4:40 Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?  He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!"  Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. He said to them "why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?"

Then my mind heard Him say "Don't be so engrossed with the external world that you forget what has been created inside each of you. Your body is a miracle."

Sometimes it feels as though we are adrift in the ocean in the middle of a storm. This got me wondering how often we eat unhealthy food and then take drugs to counteract the affect.  When we are in pain or discomfort, we get distracted.  And we continue to reach for an external solution. Maybe this is simply the bodies way of communicating with us to reconnect with who we are, not subdue it.

Our body has the wisdom of ages.  Our body wants to be well and healthy. Give it a chance.

Be still.  Listen.
